2017 News

Hello bluegrass fans! We have already had a great string of summer shows and are looking forward to the rest of our outdoor bluegrass events. This August Monroe Crossing will perform its 2,000th show in Long Prairie, MN. Wow!

This summer also brings about the retirement of longtime collaborator Art Blackburn. Art performed with Monroe Crossing for 10 years and has been the booking agent for all 17years. Art already lives in Hawaii and is perfectly set to hand over the booking schedule and begin enjoying his retirement. We thank Art for his many years of hard work and dedication! As of July 1st our guitar player, Derek Johnson, will be handling the band's bookings. He can be reached at: derek@monroecrossing.com or 612-720-3746.

Plays Classic CountryNew! Monroe Crossing Plays Classic Country

Our fifteenth CD is entitled Monroe Crossing Plays Classic Country and it's a bluegrass treatment of songs from the golden era of country music. We perform our renditions of songs from such artists as George Jones, Hank Williams, Ray Price, Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. We had a lot of fun creating this project and we are excited for you to hear the results.

"Monroe Crossing has a long history of performing songs from styles of music other than bluegrass, and their latest project is sure to please both fans of bluegrass and classic country music. The band has created some clever and compelling arrangements of these wonderful songs from a great era in music, and the project features the outstanding pickin' and singin' we've come to expect from Monroe Crossing." -- Marty Scarbrough,  KASU Program Director
